With injuries mounting – Bills sign a LB and RB
The Buffalo Bills lost both linebacker Ty Powell and defensive end Jarius Wynn for the entire 2015 season. Both were placed on injured reserve. The team signed free agent linebacker Quentin Groves to fill in for Powell.
Groves was a second round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2008 NFL Draft. Groves has played in 100 games with 32 starts in his career and has totaled 148 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
The Bills are also down to two running backs right now with Boobie Dixon, Fred Jackson, and Bryce Brown with injuries, and Karlos Williams hospitalized with an unknown ailment. Wide receiver Marcus Thigpen, who played running back at Indiana, was used in that position to take the workload off LeSean McCoy and Bronson Hill.
Because of the running back situation the Bills have added running back Samuel “Ricky” Seale to the squad.
Seale went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, going on to try-out with the Kansas City Chiefs’ during the team’s rookie minicamp. The 5-9, 203 pound Stanford product appeared in 50 career games for the Cardinals, totaling 171 yards on 53 rush attempts.
