What to watch in Buffalo Bills OTAs
There is a lot of moving parts with the 2015 Buffalo Bills. New coaching staff, lots of new players and a new owner. What will we be watching?
1. Does EJ Manuel step up?
When Manuel was drafted the Bills thought highly enough of him to draft him in the first round. It stunned just about everyone. Sure, he may never be a star quarterback but this is the year we see whether Whaley was right.
2. What will the defense look like?
Even though the Bills will run a lot of vanilla defenses expect to start seeing which direction, or directions, the defense will go. 3-4, 4-3, hybrid?
3. Who will be the starting offensive lineman?
Center Eric Wood is a lock, but beyond that it’s a bit of a jigsaw puzzle. And as the offensive line goes so will a few of the things to watch; such as EJ and the running backs. A lot hinges on how these guys emerge. The Bills drafted John Miller and he looks to be solid. What about Richie Incognito, Cyrus Kouandjio and Cyril Richardson?
4. Who emerges as the second and third running backs?
LeSean McCoy is the starter, so the question is who will back him up? Fan favorite Fred Jackson has himself quite the battle not only to go from starting running back to the possibility of being expendable. With the looming resigning of Marcel Dareus the Bills will need all the cap room they can get and they don’t want to wait until the end of the season to get Dareus under contract. It’s going to be a battle of running backs between Jackson, Boobie Dixon, Bryce Brown and rookie Karlos Williams.
5. How will Harvin and Clay perform?
It seems like these guys get a bit overlooked with all the other new additions to the team. But these guys should help the Bills offense dominate defenses.
