Projecting the Buffalo Bills 53-man roster
Starting today we will add some of the media’s projections for the Buffalo Bills’ 53-man roster until it is officially announced. We’d love to hear your thoughts/comments as well!
One thing to note as a theme for this 53 man roster. The Bills want to renew Marcel Dareus’ contract so anyone who doesn’t perform and has a hefty salary could be casualties for the present and future. It’d be interesting to see if the Bills could figure out how to get a signing bonus into 2015 for Dareus by freeing up money for expensive underachievers (see Matt Cassel and Chris Williams worth more than $8 million in 2015 cap money).
QB (3): EJ Manuel, Tyrod Taylor and Matt Simms – Cassel is just too expensive, $4.15M in 2015, for performing so poorly.
RB (4): LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, Karlos Williams, Boobie Dixon – Bryce Brown gets cut, all you need to do is reference back to coach Ryan’s off-handed comments about his fumbling.
You will probably see four tight ends rather than three–who that last TE will be is up in the air. But in general it’s hard to disagree with the above projections other than the frank possibility that if the Bills sign another tackle you’ll probably see Seantrel Henderson get cut.
Of note: Cassell could be a training cap casualty. This has become the topic of conversation amongst many Bills reporters. And believes Bryce Brown gets nod over Dixon.
Regarding running back it’ll be between Bryce Brown and Dixon as the final additions fighting for scraps.
Similarly, feels Cassell could be a training cap casualty. Also believes Dixon gets nod over Bryce Brown.
