EJ Manuel falling back — once again third-team rotation
Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel will work with the third-team offense during the preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night.
Manuel led the Bills’ third team in practice last week and in last Friday’s preseason opener before again taking third-team reps in practice Sunday.
“That’s what I decided,” coach Rex Ryan said after practice. “So this is what we did. Again, he’s going to get the majority of [Cleveland] game running with that group. So that’s the reasoning behind it.
“Again, does that mean he won’t get the reps [with the second team]? No, that doesn’t mean that at all. But this is what we wanted to [do].”
“I know you guys want to look into everything, but I don’t think you need to,” Ryan said. “We’ve been working this thing for how long now? It’s been the same type of rotation for probably three weeks.”
“I’m not going to paint myself in a corner,” Ryan said. “I’ve learned through six years of experience that you never say that.”
